In the Boland, amongst the endangered fynbos and several species of proteas, you’ll find a small 24ha boutique winery called Druk My Niet. This is where we make wine the environmentally friendly way.
Our winery is situated in a biosphere reserve and we choose to use only sustainable farming methods. We’re a proud member of the Biodiversity Initiative.
Over the years our wine cellar has grown to an 80 tonne boutique winery with state of the art machinery and equipment.
Our boutique wines are allowed to mature at their own pace and our self-catering cottages are there for you to relax and unwind.
In January 2017 a terrible wildfire destroyed most of the Hawaka Mountains below the De Toits Pass in Paarl. Our farm was severely hit during this fires. We lost in a couple of hours all of our thatched Buildings, the Manor House, Wine Cellar and 4 Guest Cottages. 30 % of our vineyard’s where lost and due to the smoke damage we lost two vintages 2015 and 2017 in the fire.
In the course of last two years we rebuild the whole farm, modernised the Cellar, redone the irrigation system, replanted 3 ha of vines and made it more environmentally friendly with a 50 KV solar system. In December 2018 we were able to move back into our newly redone Manor House.
Our farm’s owners, Mr and Mrs Kirchner, originally lived in Germany. After having travelled all over the world they finally found their home at Druk My Niet. They have been living on the farm since 2007.
In August 2018 Marcus Milner was appointed as the new wine maker. He will continue with the Druk My Niet philosophy and style of wine making that we are known and loved for.
